Reduced Meat, How Many Of You Buy It?

I love seeing this sticker on certain items i buy reguarly especially reduced meats. Im sure all of us know how much the cost of meat is now a days. Point blank outrageous and they dont make coupons for it either(not to my knowledge). Now i had always wondered how my mom always had a freezer full of stuff meats, breads, etc. anything freezeable. Finally i went to the grocery store with her and saw her in action. I will advise before i go on its best to go early in the morning say around 9 or 9:30 ish, as for the day you will just have to find out how your local kroger does their major markdowns, for me mine does them every wed. If your wondering how much you can save it all depends on when you get it. I normally get mine when its first marked down because its still fresh and not turning green or brown, but i think you might be able to wait one more day to see if they mark it down again. For an example i got about 2lbs of ground chuck it would of normally been $5.00 but since it was marked down i got it for under $3.50 and i got 4 of them which saved me about $1.50 per package. I also manage to pick up a bulk pack of pork chops that are normally $8.00 for $5.00 which saved me $3.00. Those are just some examples and if your not a local kroger shopper than you can also find these deals at walmart. For an example at walmart i got 2 t bone steaks that were $12.00 each for $6.00 each. Also at kroger keep a look out for manager specials on breads and etc. They are all over the store and if you use them or freeze them in the right amount of time you can really save big and stock up!

Now i have to ask my original question. Do any of you readers ever buy reduced meat?

**HOT** Thanksgiving Target Deals

Target is having a sale on Betty Crocker Boxed Potatoes, Stove Top Stuffing and Heinz Jar Gravy for $.79 each until November 28th (may vary by region).

I recently stocked up on the potatoes a couple weeks ago and i just recently got some more coupons for the potatoes again from the 11/15 coupon insert that im going to use. Also if you printed the heinz 3/$1.00 coupon (i forgot where i got it) you can get three jars for $1.37 and the potatoes would be $.44 a box after the $.35 coupon in the 11/15 coupon insert.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone Be Safe!

**HOT** Kroger Deal

I was in kroger this morning picking up a couple of things when i noticed that they had their Knoor Rice and Pasta Side dishes on sale for $1.09 with your kroger plus card. Last week i had bought three papers and i remembered that i had the coupons at home but i couldn't remember how much it was for so i came home and looked and its 2/$.50.

As most of you know Kroger doubles most coupons $.50 and under so it would be like a BOGO on them : )

Christmas On A Budget.

As many of us know this economy sucks and it doesn't help with prices going up. Me and Ryan had a long talk about the holidays coming up especially Christmas (my favorite holiday and not just for the presents) and we were talking about how many people we had to buy for. The total comes to 21 people and that's just immediate family. I totally freaked out when i realized how much that was and i really wasn't sure how we were going to be able to do christmas this year until today. I was job hunting when i stopped in at T.J Maxx (one of my favorite stores) and actually walked around the ENTIRE store and as i rounded one of the isles i seen it they had a kids department and they had toys and stuff. So my curiosity got the best of me and i went over and looked and they had alot of toys that were on the kids christmas lists for practically nothing! Then as i started looking around more i fount more ideas for christmas gifts. So my plan of action now is to make a list of all the people we have to buy for and then start little by little christmas shopping. Ill update my blog as i go along.

What are your christmas shopping plans?

Coupon Crazy Much?

So today we got the normal thursday edge newspaper we normally get and it gives you a sneak peak into the sundays coupons (its also a great way i get double ones) and i noticed since i started shopping at kroger you look at your coupons differently and you pay closer attention. Before i would see $.50 off of something and think its not worth it and i would only clip the ones that said $1.00 or more. Well since i fount out that kroger doubles $.50 or less coupons i have been looking at things in a whole new light and i have been clipping way more coupons than before! Unfortunatly i wont be able to use any until my next shopping trip next week but its ok shopping twice a month for groceries isn't that bad is it? Maybe soon i can start shopping for just the month wouldn't that be nice?

Tips i have learned so far that i thought i would share:

  • Dont be afraid to buy reduced meat (especially bulk sizes) because you can divide it out freeze it and use it when your ready!
  • Look for clearance items such as things that are close to its experation date that you know will be eaten before or that you can freeze until your ready to use them. You can score some pretty good deals on them.
  • One thing i will live by for as long as they have it is Aldi for milk. I know it may not seem like a huge deal since it has gone down drastically but for quite a while aldi has had their gallons of milk on sale for $1.49 each. You can buy quite a few of these freeze them (be sure to take out about a cup and shake well before you use it) and not have to buy milk for a while.
  • This is the most important tip that i will stress to anyone starting out on this journey. Make Sure You Have Room For Everything You Buy! A deep freezer is pretty handy for meats and stuff like that and dont be afraid to use a guest bedroom closet or drawers just rememeber to empty them when you have guest staying for a while!
Hope you guys can use these tips or if you have any to share im more than willing to learn!

CVS Extra Bucks Breakdown

So i have seen alot of ladies talk about how much they save at CVS and etc. One of the main things i hear them talk about also is CVS Extra Bucks. I never knew what they were and wanted to know so i researched it and fount this:

The Extra Bucks program at CVS is a bonus program for frequent shoppers.

The Extra Bucks are basically coupons. Each “buck” is equivalent to $1. In order to participate, you will need an ExtraCare card, which you should have anyway in order to get sale prices at CVS. If you don’t have one, you can get one here.

There are several ways to earn Extra Bucks.
1) You get 2 percent back for all your total purchases (excludes alcohol, tobacco, lottery, gift cards, money orders, postage stamps, pre-paid cards, prescriptions, and special order Home Health Care items, including footwear).
2) You get one Extra Buck for every two prescriptions you buy

For these two types of purchases, Bucks are awarded every three months. CVS will track how much you’ve spent for the three-month period and then give you the Extra Bucks at the end of the quarter.

You can also earn additional bucks every week with special promotions on specific products. If you check out your Sunday circular from CVS, you will usually find several items that have Extra Bucks savings noted next to them. Usually it’s something like “Earn 2 Extra Bucks.” Sometimes the ad even goes through the math to show you what the final cost will be after the Extra Bucks.

So, let’s say Head & Shoulders is on sale this week for $3.99. Then, there’s a note in the flieer saying that you can earn two Extra Bucks if you buy Head & Shoulders. Here’s what would happen:
1) You’d go to the store and buy Head & Shoulders for $3.99. You’d make sure the cashier scans your ExtraCare card when you do. (If you happened to have a manufacturer’s coupon as well, you could use that, too, for additional savings.)
2) You would earn two Extra Bucks for buying Head & Shoulders. Usually, the Bucks will be available 24 or 48 hours after the purchase. Once that time has elapsed, you can access your Extra Bucks online, print them out at home and use them on your next purchase. Or, the next time you buy something at CVS, the Extra Bucks print out at the bottom of your receipt.[An update on this policy, posted April 17, 2007: In April 2007, CVS eliminated this two-day waiting period. ExtraCare Bucks now print out immediately when you make the qualifying purchase, and the company is planning to install kiosks where you can print out your Bucks in stores.]
3) So, deducting the $2 in Extra Bucks, your final cost would be $1.99. It’s a great way to save, but it’s kind of like delayed gratification. If you can get in the habit of always buying the items that qualify for Extra Bucks, you can get in a cycle where you pretty much always have some to redeem.

I really like this program because once you’ve earned them, you can use Extra Bucks on anything. It’s like a dollar bill. You can also use several Extra Bucks coupons all at once, adding to your savings.

You should note that Extra Bucks do expire, so you need to pay attention to the expiration dates.

The QuickTrip Coupons Are Back!

Although they aren't the free sandwich, wrap or salad one they do have the 1/$1.00 Off of any of their sandwiches. For me i dont personally make it a habit to eat at quick trip sandwiches all the time but since my step dad is on the road alot for his job he sometimes will stop in to get gas, something to drink or something to eat so i give them to him to use. You can find them here but i think its limit 1 per computer though : (

My First Post On My New Blog

I created this blog so i can track my journey while trying to be frugal. This economy is so tough out there im looking to save every dollar i can. Also i needed a place for the other blogs i follow outside of my personal life blog : )

I dont know much about being "Frugal" but i have read alot of blogs about CVS Deals and Coupons, Give Aways etc. and i noticed how much money these ladies were saving so i thought i would try to jump on the bandwagon and see what it was all about and since i love blogging i thought i would blog about it as i go :)
